All the tutorial videos and hype make carb cleaning seem harder than it really is, and ninja 250 carbs are as simple as they come. Go slow, refer to your manual's diagram, and take pictures if you want to be extra careful. I cleaned '05 ninja 250 carbs last november and it took less than two hours, start to finish. I have a 97 Ninja EX250, and I am having a problem with one of my carbs. The bike is hard to start. If I choke it, it pops a little bit but never catches. If I take choke off, it pops a little more, but still doesn't catch. I have to hold the throttle about a third of the way open and crank for about 15-20 seconds to get it running. You can either add about three ounces of a clear carburetor cleaner like Berryman B12, GumOut or STP to a full tank of gas and ride the bike hoping the carb cleaner will flush out the gum and varnish, or you can drain the carbs by opening the float bowl drain screw, then refilling the carbs through the fuel hose. 2. clean the fuel flow hose all the way through the fuel flow needle inside the carb. (get all the little rubber residue out of there) 3. insure your gas cap and over flow tube off the gas cap can vent freely.
